In a letter addressed to West Ham fans on the club’s official website, Rice expressed his farewells following a series of intense emotions in recent weeks.

In the previous month, Rice’s final action as a member of West Ham was to raise the Europa Conference League trophy, which marked the club’s first achievement since winning the FA Cup in 1980 and their initial European trophy since 1965.

David Sullivan, who serves as joint-chair, expressed his regret at Declan’s departure from the club. However, he also emphasised that West Ham United should take pride in their role in Declan’s development, from his time at the Academy of Football to becoming the most valuable young player in English football.

I want to clarify to our supporters that we had no intention of selling Declan. We aimed to create a team centred around him and presented a series of enhanced, extended contract proposals to ensure his future.Nevertheless, after Declan expressed his desire to move on and pursue a fresh opportunity, the club believed it would be inappropriate to impede his progress, prioritising the best interests of West Ham United.

The club’s manager, David Moyes, was understandably saddened by the departure of the England international, who had made 245 appearances for the team.

After finally receiving paperwork from the Gunners on Friday, West Ham sealed the agreement to transfer Rice to Arsenal.

Nevertheless, West Ham has finalised the agreement to transfer Rice to Arsenal, who are expected to unveil their record-breaking signing prior to embarking on a pre-season tour in the United States this Sunday.

The delay was occurring due to the paperwork being prepared by Arsenal’s lawyers.

According to West Ham’s knowledge, Rice had completed his medical examination with the Gunners and had been consistently training during his vacation in Portugal.
The agreement is divided into two parts: an initial payment of £100m, which will be spread out over a period of 24 months, and additional payments of £5m. These additional payments will be made each time Arsenal qualifies for the Champions League and when Rice starts 60 percent of games.

The £105m agreement will surpass Arsenal’s previous highest acquisition, which is presently Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72m in 2019.

However, Rice’s signing falls slightly below the British transfer record, which was established in January by Chelsea’s payment of £106.8m to Benfica for Enzo Fernandez.

On Friday, Arsenal completed the signing of Jurrien Timber for a fee of £38m. Timber has agreed to a five-year contract with the club.
